We are proud to sponsor and support Dr Ian St George’s project to make his biographies of notable – and sometimes overlooked – New Zealanders freely accessible online.

Dr St George is a retired Wellington general medical practitioner, an amateur orchidologist, and a prolific writer of New Zealand history. He has edited major medical publications, including Cole’s Medical Practice in New Zealand, and served for a decade as editor of NZ Family Physician. He has also contributed widely to public health and medical leadership in New Zealand.

Through his On Admiral Road site, he’s published engaging, meticulously researched biographies that bring provincial pioneers and cultural figures back into view. In recognition of his lifelong contribution to scholarship and service, Dr St George received a 2024 Saint Kentigern Distinguished Alumni Award.
